Discover The Art Of Throwing Pots.
Explore the art of throwing pots in our Nansledan, Newquay studio with potter Rob Small. Aimed at inexperienced potters this introductory lesson covers all the basic skills and works as a fun experience or a solid basis for your pottery journey.
In there class you will learn how clay is prepared, the art of entering clay and the fundamentals of lifting up and forming your pots.
You will make two functional pots. Firstly a cup and then a bowl.
Rob delivers this to you in a structured but flowing class that allow the art of throwing to reveal itself to the potters. There’s no pressure and Rob will look for the best way to unlock your clay creativity.
We can finish (2 x firings, sanding and glazing) your work for our processing cost (£15 per pot) for you to collect or have sent to you. This is optional and entirely at you discretion.
We use Cornish clay and our unique glaze made from hand collected Cornish granite and sea shells from local beaches.
The lesson is 2.5 hours long (3 hour turn around) . Cost £60 per person (plus optional finishing costs above).
Maximum of 6 guests each with their own wheel, tools and aprons.
This class is suitable for 12+ years. For those with younger children please see if our private family class is available.
Don’t hesitate to ask about any specific questions or requirements you may have.
Please note that shorter nails make throwing pots easier (however if you have longer nails we have alternate techniques).
